history
Parents/Guardians: Caractacus Burke, father Janis Madigan-Burke, mother Other Relatives: Character History: Olivia Burke wasn't meant to have ever met her father. He was some shadowy figure in the background who she was always supposed to block out of her vision as not to take away the experience, like a stagehand or the strings on a puppet. He could be heard arguing with her mother sometimes, but it was always muffled behind closed doors and echoey as it travelled down the hall to where she sat. Caractacus was "a mistake", Janis had seen something in him when she was a "going through a dark period" and they'd apparently married in this same period. Whatever the reason, they were legally married, had a child together, and for the sake of not putting a smudge on her family's good name Janis hadn't divorced him. After all, he was supposedly from a nice family, and what would become of Olivia? Instead, Janis moved out to one of her family's houses in Wales and made sure his daughter was as estranged from him as she could possibly be.
For all this drama, Olivia had a rather innocent childhood. She lived with her mother and governess in the Welsh countryside where there was plent of space to explore. She had very few friends her own age, but her mother's single friends loved her as she was a rather charming child (if a bit loud). Though she was rather intelligent, Olivia preferred the side of learning that involved going down to the pond and trying to catch frogs and bugs to examine. It wasn't that she was a tomboy (she hadn't grown up with enough men to become one) or rebellious, but she had that sort of outdoorsy personality thatfot well with her surroundings.
Having been so sheltered, the rest of the wizarding world existed only in books, random Prophet articals, and day trips to one of the nearby wizard-friendly towns. Olivia had never actually been to a city, so it was a bit of a shock to her when she first arrived in Diagon Alley. She already had her supplies and uniform, but she got to wander around with the governess for a few days while her mother caught up with her friends in the area. After these few days, Olivia boarded the Hogwarts Express and finally learned what her father did for a living when she walked into a compartment with a few of his customer's children.
